Slate Auto has appointed former Amazon executive Peter Faricy as CEO as it prepares to launch a low-cost electric pickup truck. The startup plans to manufacture the vehicle in Indiana and target pricing in the mid-$20,000 range.

Slate Auto’s CEO confirms the company plans to introduce more vehicles beyond its minimalist electric pickup. While future models are under consideration, Slate is focused on executing its modular, low-cost truck launch and starting production in 2026.

Slate Auto’s affordable EV truck has 150,000+ pre-orders, launching late 2026. Priced $26–$27K, it won’t include autonomous features. Its low cost, customization, and simplicity appeal as competitors and lost incentives reshape the market.

The new Slate electric truck will feature Tesla’s NACS port and full Supercharger access, giving drivers seamless fast charging and added confidence. With up to 240 miles of range, the truck is built for convenience and everyday practicality, not distance.
