What the Slate Truck Is

The Slate Truck is a compact, all-electric pickup from a new American startup backed by Jeff Bezos. Unlike traditional automakers, Slate plans to launch the Truck in a single no-frills configuration—think crank windows, cloth seats, and no touchscreen.

Powertrain and Range

The Truck launches with a single rear-mounted electric motor delivering 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Power comes from a 52.7-kWh battery pack, offering an estimated 150 miles of range.

For drivers needing more distance, an optional 84.3-kWh pack extends range to about 240 miles.

Slate has acknowledged customer interest in a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive option, hinting that future versions may expand beyond the base configuration.

Charging is handled through a NACS (Tesla-style) port, ensuring compatibility with the growing Supercharger network in North America.

Price and Release Date

The estimated price for the Slate Truck is $20,000–$30,000, placing it among the most affordable EV pickups on the market.

The company expects to begin sales in 2027 or 2028, giving it time to refine production, accessories, and its open-source ecosystem.
