Audi has quietly rolled out a mid-cycle update for its most advanced electric vehicles in the U.S. The 2027 Audi A6 Sportback e-tron and Q6 e-tron, both built on the brand’s 800-volt Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, now arrive with refreshed interior controls, updated software, and an unusual new feature designed for charging stops.

While the hardware remains largely unchanged, Audi’s latest update leans heavily on usability, comfort, and digital refinement.

A New Charging Feature Focused on Comfort

Tucked into Audi’s announcement is a newly introduced “Power Nap” mode, described as a function that creates a calm and restful environment during charging sessions. Audi has not outlined the exact parameters of the mode, but it appears to adjust cabin settings such as lighting, climate, and infotainment behavior to encourage rest.

The idea may feel unexpected for vehicles capable of fast charging up to 270 kW, where a 10% to 80% recharge can take as little as 21 minutes. Still, Audi seems to be acknowledging that EV charging is as much about comfort and experience as it is about speed.

No Mechanical Changes, Just Refinement

Despite the update, there are no increases in battery capacity, driving range, or power output across the lineup. Audi instead focused on incremental improvements that affect everyday interaction with the vehicle.

Both models continue to use a 94.4 kWh battery pack, maintaining the same performance and efficiency figures as before. This approach suggests Audi is confident in the PPE platform’s core engineering and is prioritizing software maturity over mechanical revisions.

Updated Infotainment and Steering Wheel Controls

One of the most noticeable changes is a reworked infotainment interface, designed to be more intuitive and better integrated with smartphones. Navigation, media, and phone functions can now be mirrored more seamlessly into the digital instrument cluster, reducing reliance on the central touchscreen.

Audi has also replaced several capacitive touch controls with physical scroll wheels on the steering wheel, improving tactile feedback for tasks like adjusting volume. The steering wheel itself takes inspiration from the Audi Concept C Coupe, blending modern aesthetics with improved usability.

Built-In 4K Dashcam and Expanded Driver Tools

A notable addition is the availability of an integrated 4K dashcam, either as standard equipment or an option depending on trim. Mounted discreetly at the base of the rear-view mirror, the system records HDR video and high-resolution images directly to an SD card.

Playback is available through the central display, and recordings can include time, speed, and navigation data, making the system useful for both documentation and security without relying on aftermarket solutions.

Performance Tweaks for the S Models

For drivers seeking a sportier experience, the 2027 S6 Sportback e-tron introduces a new Dynamic Plus drive mode. This setting allows a controlled degree of oversteer when pushing the vehicle near its limits, offering a more engaging feel without compromising stability systems.

The feature reflects Audi’s continued effort to maintain driving character even as its lineup transitions further into electrification.
