Lucid Cosmos may lead in charging speed and efficiency with its 800V system and optimized design, while Rivian R2 focuses on practicality and earlier availability in the growing mid-size EV segment.

Lucid announced two upcoming mid-size electric SUVs called Cosmos and Earth during its 2026 Investor Day. Built on a new platform with an 800-volt system and advanced efficiency, the vehicles aim to compete in the high-volume electric crossover market.

Lucid Motors aims to produce 25,000–27,000 EVs in 2026. Its $50K midsize crossover will target higher sales and profitability, while early Gravity production and cost cuts set the stage amid strong competition.
